It’s Prada Darling

If your idea of hell is shopping for shoes and handbags then this is certainly not for you.  The Marche region of Italy is, however, famous for the manufacture of designer brands and there are outlets for both Prada and Tod’s within half an hour from the house. If you are tempted to go, then head up the A14 coastal motorway to the Civitanova turnoff and take the road towards Macerata. some way before the Macerata turning, turn off towards Montecosaro.  Before entering the village of Casette d’Ete, turn right at the roundabout and you will find Tod’s on your right and Prada on your left.

If you are looking to combine sightseeing with a shopping experience, then there is plenty to look at in both Ascoli Piceno and Macerata, both can be reached within an hour of the house. Slightly further a field, but none the less, an upmarket experience is the small town of Senigallia, just north of Ancona. The small walled town of Servigliano is also worth a visit and is only 40 mins drive.

At a more basic level, there are local stores in the village which stock pretty much everything you could need in terms of provisions.  The larger Oasi supermarket is at Porto San Giorgio – take the road to the coast, turn left onto the Blue Road and it is the next town up the coast, approx 20 mins from the house. There is a fantastic butcher at Moresco, on the hill above the house (Macelleria Az Rossi Salumificio Rossi) where they raise and slaughter the livestock locally. As you go up the hill to Monterubbiano / Moresco there is also a farm shop selling local produce.

Details of this and other shops can be found on this local map.
